Our community is looking for an Assistant Director of Nursing in Skilled Nursing to join our team.  

The Assistant Director of Nursing is an RN or LVN who is responsible for the overall supervision of nursing care in the Skilled Nursing Facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises direct nursing care in the Health Center
  • Administers direct nursing care when more than routine care is indicated
  • Makes routine rounds to assure proper care and a safe, clean resident environment
  • Assures accuracy ad completeness of medical records
  • Coordinates, conducts and documents the MDS, resident care plans and conferences in the absence of the MDS nurse
  • Supervises nursing personnel on all shifts.  Participates in staffing, scheduling, counseling, orientation and evaluation of nursing staff
  • Assists with orientation of nursing personnel
  • Participates in family/resident counseling
  • Responds to emergency calls as necessary
  • Functions in the capacity of DON in his/her absence
  • Assures effective communication with other shifts and departments as it relates to resident care
  • Some “on call” is required
  • Assures timelines of physician visits
  • Accompanies physicians when making rounds
  • Notifies physician and family of changes in resident’s condition
  • Encourages rehabilitative techniques in order to restore residents’ independence
  • Assures proper functioning of medical equipment and adequate medical supplies
  • Assists DON in developing and implementing policies and procedures
  • Assists in infection control, safety and pharmacy rounds and audits
  • Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Maintains current state license as a Licensed Professional Nurse or a Professional Registered Nurse per state regulations.
  • Experience in the Skilled Nursing/LTC industries.
  • Two (2) years experience as a Licensed Nurse preferred
  • One (1) year nursing management experience preferred
  • Must demonstrate competence in assessment skills, injections/medication administration, follow up and triage.
